Class 1 MELT program set by: Alberta Transportation

15-day course excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays

8:00 am – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday

 MELT Course Includes:

 5 hours of classroom training

• 5 hours of in-yard training
• 18 hours of off-road maneuvers training
• 39 hours of in truck driver training
• Use of truck for Road Test is complimentary
• Students must have a full Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License to start the program.
• Students must have a passed Driver’s Medical before starting the program.
• Airbrakes Course must be taken before training begins. Cost for the Airbrakes Course is $250.00 and is 1-day 8:00am – 5:30 pm every Friday
• Students must pass a Class 1 Knowledge Test at a Registries office after the MELT Certificate has been issued before a Road Test can be confirmed.
• Mandatory attendance is required to complete the program in the dates you have chosen to attend.

Cost for this program is $10,000.00 for training hours and use of the truck for the road test only.

Separate costs paid by the student include:

• Medical
• Airbrakes at Start-Rite
• MELT Knowledge Test and Airbrakes Knowledge Test at a Registries Office
• Road Test Permit $217.00 (use of truck for Road Test is complimentary)
