Experience and Equivalency Class 1 MELT program 

2 days of classroom, 8 am to 5 pm

3 days of in truck driver training 8 am to 5 pm

DESCRIPTION:

The purpose of this curriculum is to provide experienced Class 3 license holders seeking to obtain a MELT Class 1 driver’s license.

You must be approved by Alberta Transportation by filling out an application https://formsmgmt.gov.ab.ca/Public/DPLS12623.xdp

This must be submitted to trans.driver.prog@gov.ab.ca for approval before registering.

• Students must have a full Class 3 Alberta Driver’s License to start the program.
• Students must have a passed Driver’s Medical before starting the program.
• Students must pass a Class 1 Knowledge Test at a Registries office after the MELT Certificate has been issued before a Road Test can be confirmed.
• Mandatory attendance is required to complete the program in the dates you have chosen to attend.

Cost for this program is $4,000.00

Separate additional costs:

• Medical
• MELT Knowledge Test at any Registries Office
• Road Test Permit $217.00 (use of truck for Road Test is complimentary)
